Circular economy – Project crossed valorisation of industrial by-products

In order to reduce waste at the root and develop recycling and waste repurposing, Cerib and other Industrial Technical Centers initiated with the support of Ademe the ‘Valorisation croisée” project to identify which could be the best industrial associations for wastes / materials that are little or not reused today.

The goal of this approach is to find new ways of integration of these materials in external pathways to the process that generated them and also propose a generic methodology. This will increase waste repurposing solutions, provide answers to waste management and increase the overall recycling rates, while allowing the decrease of greenhouse gas and natural resource savings.

The collaboration between the technical centers of concrete industry (Cerib), foundry (CTIF) and paper mill sectors (CTP) allowed to assess technical, economical, health, environmental, energy, regulatory and normative impacts from the incorporation of some of their by-products (biomass ashes, foundry fines, cupola slag) in concrete and especially in paving products.
